In 2019 we announced the exciting news that we will begin working in the North East of England. To date our work has been in the North West, West Midlands, Bristol, London and the Home Counties. With the support of Bain Capital, we are launching a hub with a focus on delivery in Tyne and Wear for 2019/20.

One of our long term aims at Diversity Role Models is to one day offer our workshops free of charge and we are grateful for the support from Bain Capital, enabling us to offer schools a full day of inspiring classroom based student workshops for primary, secondary, FE, or alternative settings, free of charge.

Our workshops help embed empathy and inclusion in the next generation through challenging stereotypes, educating about differences and addressing misconceptions around gender identity and sexual orientation. Through hearing from an LGBT+ or ally role model young people are empowered to find solutions to homophobic, biphobic and transphobic bullying and language in their schools.

Our work will help schools demonstrate excellence in Behaviour and Attitudes and Personal Development under the new Ofsted inspection framework, meet statutory requirements under the Equality Act 2010, Fundamental British Values and SMSC and deliver the new RSE curriculum.

In the 2019/20 school year we have a limited number of free delivery days on offer, limited to one day per school. Beyond the funded student workshops, we are able to support schools in taking a whole school approach to LGBT+ inclusion, working not only with students but also with staff, governors and parents and carers to embed LGBT+ inclusion into the policies, practices, curriculum and culture of a school.

We are now taking bookings for Autumn term.
