We at Diversity Role Models read with interest the Department for Education and Women and Equalities business plan for 2016-17 which was published last week.
Rt Hon Nicky Morgan, Secretary of State for Education and Minister for Women and Equalities, at the launch of our Embracing Diversity and Ending Bullying report earlier this month stated that:
There is no place whatsoever for bullying in our streets, in our schools or anywhere in our society. And we should treat homophobic, biphobic and transphobic bullying with the contempt it deserves because nobody should have to live in fear of abuse or intimidation simply for being who they are.
It is great to see her comments backed up in the 2015-2020 business plan with a continuing commitment to help schools to build their capacity to prevent homophobic, biphobic and transphobic bullying.
Diversity Role Models is working hard to support schools through our teacher training programme and e-learning package which, thanks to Government Equalities Office funding, is free to schools in England until the end of March. We also deliver pupil workshops and training for governors, policy advice and lesson plans and resources. Please get in touch here for further info.
