Tuesday March 1, 2016
As part of a project funded by the Government Equalities Office, we’re offering schools in England free-of-charge e-learning on tackling homophobic, biphobic and transphobic (HBT) bullying until the end of March. And if you sign up before the end of January, you’ll be entered into a prize draw to win a free day of Diversity Role Models’ pupil workshops, normally worth £400!
Who is this e-learning for?
This e-learning is suitable for all staff (both teaching and non-teaching). We recommend that all staff complete it, to ensure everyone in your school/college has a shared understanding of HBT bullying and basic strategies for tackling it.
What does the e-learning include?
This course provides an introduction to the topic of HBT. It consists of three modules and takes around an hour to complete in total, but modules can be completed separately:
- Module One - What is HBT Bullying?
What is HBT bullying and who is affected by it? What are some of the key challenges to tackling HBT bullying? How can these challenges be overcome?
- Module Two - HBT Language
How does HBT language impact upon LGBT young people? What are some basic strategies that can be used for addressing HBT language?
- Module Three - The Whole-School Approach
How can schools proactively tackle HBT bullying before it occurs? How can LGBT issues be incorporated in the curriculum and the whole school environment? What additional resources are available to support this?
How can we sign up?
If you want to sign your school up for e-learning, all we need is a spreadsheet containing the first name, last name and email address of every staff member you would like to have access.
To sign up, or if you just want more information, please contact us: firstname.lastname@example.org or 020 7278 8659.
