Dream up an activity based around the number 2.6 or 26 and help raise funds and the profile of Diversity Role Models
The 2.6 Challenge campaign was announced today and Diversity Role Models is calling on supporters to join the campaign and have some fun! Many fundraising events have been cancelled due to COVID-19 and in response, the organisers of the biggest mass participation sports events across the country have come together to create the 2.6 challenge campaign to raise vital funds to save UK's charities.
The campaign will launch on Sunday 26 April 2020 - what should have been the date of the 40th London Marathon, the world’s biggest one day annual fundraising event, which raised £66.4 million for charities in 2019.
We’re asking you to dream up an activity based around the number 2.6 or 26 and fundraise, donate and/or share to ensure we continue to foster an LGBT+ inclusive environment where students are empowered to embrace difference and end bullying.
- Fundraise – create a fundraising page for your challenge and ask your family, friends, or colleagues to donate
- Donate – make a one-off donation to Diversity Role Models
- Share – your activity and promote the work of Diversity Role Models to colleagues, friends, family and on social media #DRM26 #twopointsixchallenge
The 2019/20 school year was expected to be our biggest year to date and we anticipate the 2020/21 school year to pick-up right where we left off, creating a world where everyone embraces diversity and can thrive.
The 2.6 Challenge is open to anyone of any age – the only requirement is that the activity must follow the Government guidelines on exercise and social distancing and remember to stay local. The activity can be something you’re already passionate about or something you want to try for the first time! Some ideas include: 2.6-mile run, 26 press-ups, 26 minutes of gardening, 26 laps of your living room, 2.6-minute plank, 26-hour gameathon, or 26 minutes of mindfulness.
26 words: Inspire a young person
Embracing difference is central to who and what we do at Diversity Role Models and we want this campaign to be no different. If fundraising or donating is not for you, we still want you to join our 2.6 challenge campaign. Core to the educational student workshops we deliver is the message that everyone should be treated equally and difference should be celebrated.
Write a 26-word message or quote to inspire a student, or your younger self, and email it to email@example.com.
Thank you for your continued support to Diversity Role Models and the schools and students we support.
