“Everyone seems the same around here, but now I know about differences that are more hidden and that some people feel they have to hide who they are. That’s not fair. I think everyone has the right to be open and accepted for who they are.”  Year 6 pupil

This quote from a pupil in one of our primary workshops shows the importance of openly discussing equality, diversity and LGBTQ+ identities in school. Pride Month is the perfect time to have open and honest conversations that celebrate difference and tackle homophobic, biphobic and transphobic bullying.

Diversity Role Models invites you to join us in our mission to end bullying that negatively impacts millions of young lives, particularly those in the LGBTQ+ community.

Symbols of Pride (Year 3+ Classroom Video)

This video guides pupils through our 'Pride Month 2025' Lego-based activities, exploring what it means to feel proud and celebrating the different parts of your identity. This activity is aimed at Year 3 and Year 4 pupils but can be adapted for other age groups.

In the video, Robert explains what resources the pupils will need and asks them some discussion questions to get pupils thinking about what a rainbow might symbolise. He then does on to explain the significance of rainbows to the LGBTQ+ community. He sets up the activity for you and then invites pupils to build their own symbols of Pride. Please pause this video at any point and use it, as you think is best, to help you run the activity with your class.
